New York, NY

There are so many things we miss about NYC.
- being able to get anything and everything within a 2 block radius of our apartment.
- the endless restaurant options.
- the diversity of city living.
- Central Park!

But by far, it is our friends that we miss the most.
We are heading to NYC soon and we've got a pretty packed schedule

Thursday afternoon - Stop in CT to see college friend and celebrate her pregnancy!
Friday night - drinks with old co-workers, which will inevitably include reminiscing over entry-level jobs that nearly crushed our souls :)
Saturday afternoon - lunch with old roommates/neighbors/ to celebrate 1 engagement + 1 pregnancy!!
Saturday night - visit one of the very best friends I made in NYC to meet her new baby!!!
Sunday afternoon - brunch with friends to celebrate babies #2!! (Theirs, not ours!)
Sunday night - dinner with Will's family

Looking forward to a very fun filled weekend full of family and friends!!

The perfect man?

A man who loves cleaning?

A man who does so voluntarily, without being nagged, or begged, or bribed?

A man who cleans with a smile on his face?

Is it wrong to be jealous of your future daughter-in-law?? Because she doesn't realize how lucky she is.

(please take note of his mop and dustpan in the background, this kid doesn't mess around.)

Happy Birthday Nathan

Nathan's 1st birthday party

Dear Nathan,

It's hard to believe it was a year ago that we were celebrating your very first birthday and now you're suddenly two years old. We went through a lot this past year, you and me.  You have kept me very busy with your talking, singing, running, jumping and let's not forget the climbing!! You have no fear and seek out adventure wherever you go. You are so smart, always trying to figure out how things work which is why it's been so hard to baby proof the bathroom drawers!

This weekend everyone who loves you will come together to help you celebrate your birthday. You are such a wonderful addition to our family, you bring people together because everyone loves being around you! You have brought us all so much joy and we can never thank you enough for that.

Your daddy and I love you so much and feel so lucky to have you in our lives. You have filled our hearts with more love than we ever knew they could hold. Here's to another year of memories.

Happy birthday my beautiful boy, I love you as high as the sky.

Love,
Mama

It goes by so fast

When you have a baby, it seems like everyone tells you to enjoy it because "it goes by so fast." But when you're taking care of a newborn all day, barely getting any sleep at night, time certainly seems to drag by very slowly. Yet somewhere amidst those long days and sleepless nights your baby starts to smile, and laugh and develop a unique little personality and before you know it, you don't have a baby anymore, you have a toddler. Bottles are traded in for sippy cups. Crawling turns to walking. Babbling changes into real words.

It's hard to imagine Nathan's first birthday was almost a year ago. Back then he was just learning how to walk, whereas now I can barely keep up with him when he runs. At this time last year he was only saying a few words here or there, today he announces "Mommy go pee pee in the potty" to anyone who will listen.

Somewhere between last April and now, my toddler turned into a boy who plays with trucks and pretends he's an airplane. For all those people who told me "it goes by so fast", they were right. How can he be turning 2 when it feels like just yesterday we left the hospital, scared and completely clueless? It doesn't feel that long ago that I was waking up every single night at midnight, 2, 4 and 6 to nurse a tiny little baby.

During the past 2 years, Nathan has grown and developed so much but he's not the only one. Will and I changed too. We became stronger, happier, and more content. Nathan has taught us to slow down and enjoy life, a lesson I will forever be grateful for. Before Nathan, we were always on the go - always planning our next move but now we are more aware of what's happening at the moment. We have learned to appreciate the present and not be so concerned with the future.  Nathan has challenged us in more ways than we could have ever imagined and as a result, he has made us better people than we were before him.

In just a few days, Nathan will turn 2 years old. So until then, I plan on cherishing every moment with him, because I just know 2 is going to be a whole new adventure.
